There are things that ingrain themselves so deeply into our subconscious no matter what we do, the connection is irreversibly made. There are a few games that have certain albums tied in my brain just like that.
LETS REVIEW SHALL WE?
To start with, lets review a classic...Crystalis, a great old RPG that I had back in the Nintendo days. Now the music that is programmed into my head is The Simpsons Sing the Blues. Yes you read that right. The Simpsons Sing the freakin Blues. For the record, I had more than one MC Hammer album too.
The next couple are a little more uh...appropriate and will meet with more approval than that last one. F-Zero was a Super Nintendo Racing game that I'd rented a couple of times. The music that I loved with this game was side A of the Faith No More album called The Real Thing. I say side A, because I had both the tape & the CD. Usually I'd only play long enough for that first side, the game& music didn't match up as good for the second side.
Another classic was the Legend of Zelda, A Link to the Past. Oh and I can hear the fanboys now: " Oh why did you cover the wonderful music?" Dude...ROFL. Okay, this one gets a special mention because of the wonderfully natural synching between the music and the game itself. Like the mythological synching between Darkside of the Moon & The Wizard of Oz. Creepy close. What is this magical song you ask? Enter Sandman by Metallica. (I'd link it but I'd get sued by Lars.)
More recently, since I've been married, the games & the music have gotten to be odd bed fellows. I've surrendered the audio on a lot of games to my wife, who would prefer music other than game music. Castlevania:Symphony of the Night on the Playstation was a great game & music in its own right, but I have a Loreena McKennit CD ground into my head on that one.
Lastly, and most recently, and still a little bit painful-is Marvel vs. Capcom 2. I had the XBOX version. Every time my wife plays the latest Fiona Apple CD I can literally see, and feel the game playing. My thumbs dancing around the controller-my character kicking arse all over the screen. Thieves suck. Anyway- that's the last of my connections- for now- as I find and program other games & music into my brain-I'm sure you'll hear about it.

AH the death of posts... I have writer's block, so I'm going to post a few shameless plugs ...mwa ha haaaa.
First- My Wife's Space on Myspace. She's been working hard on it & finding some old friends from highschool. I'm not on there, but you can see pics of her & my kiddies.
I like to surf

Wow huh...anyway, the hurricanes are whipping up, and I'm looking forward to those. If now I could only KEEP our car running.
BLAAH....yeah writer's block sucks....

SPORTS! hahaha...yeah I see your eyes bulging & rolling all of you! So we recently got cable going, and there's actually interesting sports on. Road racing, hockey futbol ....yeah fut bol on the spanish channel no better way to watch the international sensation we call soccer. BUT THEY CHANGED THE ANNOUNCER! I'm sure you've heard it...GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!! He doesn't do it the same, or after all these years they've changed the announcer. Much to my chagrin ( I love that phrase) when USA scored a goal against Italy today, the announcer starts in: GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!GOAL!.........*gasp* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
needless to say I was thouroughly disappointed (spelling on that LOL-I really don't care)so I flipped over to an english language channel to keep watching.
Go 'Canes ...good luck game 7...looks like I've chosen my team. Hey c'mon the other guys are from Canada.
ROAD & TRACK
So I was watching racing today, as usual it was NOT the one that only turns left. But anywho as we watched the cars come down a straight, and a slowing turn, the blockades were clearly marked GRAN TURISMO 4 which was my favorite racing game up until my PS2 got stolen (see a few blog posts back). Anyway, one of the cars pulled into the pits, with Playstation markings, and the pit crew's uniforms had the GT4 logo on the back. I thought that was nifty as heck.

Hey Folks! Welcome back again for some more random crap!
If you've joined me in the Monsters Game- the new server's on the blink-500 errors. From the admins of the game (if you haven't visited the boards yet) it'll clear up later on-so keep on hunting.
Okay so that wasn't random-neither is this...entireley. I got a fat bonus at work for being a badass. I need a car part first, but I have approximatley 150 bucks left for my disposal. Which one should I get? XBOX, PS2 or one of the DS Lites? RAH~! Decisions decisions...Oh and by the way, if you were wondering-they didn't get my kid's Gameboy-luckily that was stashed in his room ^_^
This one is a little more random-me, my Mom & Dad, My son & My nephew are hauling butt for the Appalachians next month to go to the family reunion. On the way back-we'll be stopping at Carrowinds. Problem is-my son is about 50 inches...you need 54 inches to ride eeverything...wish him four inches over the next month! ^~^
Well that's the last of the Random Stuffage-Visit Gamer Dad for more video game stuff! We rock- and we update almost daily-and the forums update by the minute.

GAME SECURITY
Recent events have gotten me thinking about the things I could have done (but didn't think about) to keep at least part of my gaming investment safe. They might get part of it, but not the whole thing if you know what I mean. My first thought was a "thief-proof" entertainment center: solid oak construction, internal hinges, and a full wooden back, with only enough room to put a few cords. Or perhaps running a cord to the bottom of the stand, that comes out the bottom so the only thing they could take would be the extension cord. I need to ask my brother in law if he's still building furniture!
Now more rationally speaking, and not having to rearrange furniture, there's some easier things you can do. Most obvious: don't display your prize games on a bookshelf, or at least not with the disc in them. If only I still kept all my games in a CD wallet. I used to, back in the Playstation days. The people that hit our house left the two CD wallets that we have our CD collection in, and a wallet full of demo discs. Another thing, don't keep the controllers plugged in, it may only slow them down, but put the controllers out of site when not in use. Actually any of the accessories stash in a different room. Memory Cards, steering wheels, guitars...
For those that can afford it, set up a lockable game room. Don't just settle for indoor doors, get yourself a solid wood or aluminum outside door. That way they can't just smash in the poster board that most inside doors are made of. That way you can keep all your stuff handy, and really piss them off wondering-what is behind that door!
I'm dealing with the loss okay, and have plans to get stuff replaced. I'm not gonna mention what or when, and we've got the property managers putting in new doors/locks/dead-bolts for us. If you want, I'll be glad to accept offers of equipment or games hehehe...actually you can contact me if you've got a collection or equipment you're looking to sell for relatively cheap. I won't pay original purchase price, but I'll likely give you more than EB games will for your trade in.
